Every day, people from all over the world are introduced to the healing powers of shea butter. But very few are aware of another, lesser-known species of shea butter from East Africa called Nilotica butter.

Shea butter or the scientific name Vitellaria Paradoxa is a fat obtained from the nuts of the Shea tree. However, it has two different species with different properties, one found in East Africa near the Nile River and another found in West Africa. 99.9% of all shea butter on the global market today is derived from the Vitellaria Paradoaxa tree found in 19 countries across West Africa, this is known today as the Shea belt. Two Very Different Species

Nilotica butter is higher in oleic acid, and lower in steric acid. Both oleic and steric are chemical compounds that occur in shea butter naturally. Oleic acid is known for its moisturizing and antioxidant properties and steric acid is the chemical compound that makes natural butters feel hard and waxy.

What does this mean? It means that because of higher oleic acid the butter is creamier and smoother, and can be better absorbed easier into skin and hair. Low Stearic acid makes it very easily melted and much softer. It also helps to lock in moisture and keep skin hydrated. In addition, Nilotica butter contains naturally occurring compounds that help to soothe inflammation and relieve dryness. As a result, it is an excellent choice for those with sensitive skin or conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. Moreover, Nilotica butter is non-comedogenic, meaning it will not clog pores, making it ideal for use in acne-prone skin. Highest Quality

Nilotica trees are grown in the wild and are not subject to any toxic farming practices. The Nilotica Shea Butter that we use is completely unrefined and has not been subject to any chemical or heat treatments. This results in a butter that is packed with all of the nutrients, vitamins, and antioxidants that are found in the raw Nilotica nuts.
